Expanded partnership scope
HYP Global and UC Riverside's Bourns College of Engineering have expanded their Pre-Master Boot Camp partnership for the 2026 academic year. The expansion doubles cohort capacity from 15 to 30 seats and adds two new course tracks targeting the MS in Computer Science and MS in Data Science programs.
New course tracks
The two new Pre-Master Boot Camp tracks cover Data Structures & Algorithms and Advanced Statistical & Numerical Methods — aligned with the first-quarter coursework at UC Riverside MS Computer Science and MS Data Science. Both tracks are STEM-designated via UCR's STEM-OPT eligibility framework.
Why the expansion
The 2025 UCR engineering cohort delivered strong academic outcomes, with admitted Pre-Master graduates earning an average first-term GPA of 3.6 at UCR Engineering — meaningfully above the graduate-cohort average. UCR Engineering leadership cited Pre-Master Boot Camp preparation as a contributing factor and requested the 2026 expansion to meet growing applicant demand.
Cohort timeline
Applications for the Fall 2026 Pre-Master Boot Camp UC Riverside Engineering cohort open in June. The 10-12 week cohort runs September through November, with UCR admissions decisions arriving in December for Spring 2027 matriculation. A Spring 2027 Pre-Master cohort will follow for Fall 2027 admissions.
What UCR said
"Pre-Master Boot Camp students bring a measurable readiness advantage into our graduate coursework," a Bourns College of Engineering graduate admissions representative said. "Expanding to 30 seats and adding the CS and Data Science tracks reflects how confident we are in the program-fit this pathway produces."
