Jie Huang chose Lehigh because it offered a stronger return on investment than a traditional single-discipline finance degree. The analytical finance program combined business and engineering coursework, which gave her practical experience in financial modeling, programming, and quantitative problem solving.
After graduation, she started in data consulting, then moved through Big Four-style advisory work before landing in senior technical program management at Amazon. Her path shows how Lehigh's interdisciplinary design can support a business-to-tech career pivot.
In interviews, Jie has emphasized two themes: start career planning early and build relevant experience before graduation. Internships, research projects, and alumni referrals mattered more than prestige alone.
She also points to Lehigh's alumni network as a real career lever. That network helped open doors in consulting and later created the confidence to move from enterprise advisory work into a technology company.
